The Rochester Area of New York state is home to a number of exceptional golf courses, but one stands out. The Brockport Country Club, close to Rochester and Buffalo and only six miles from Lake Ontario, is a remarkable country course. Spread out across small winding hills, creeks and ponds, it's a serene layout frequented by deer and other wildlife that provides the opportunity for exceptional play. The par 71 course run 6,350 yards from the tips, so it isn't ...very long. But the water, long strips of imposing trees and the wind whipping off the lake create barriers to a good score. You won't need a driver on the shorter holes, but you'll be challenged to play a strong short game to hit approach shots to the tight undulating greens that are hard to hold. The course is varied with holes that are short and long, flat and hilly. A good score will be recorded by anyone who can hit a variety of crisp shots to accomodate each hole, and approach shots that will hold the rolly greens. Built on a farm 30 years ago as a nine hole course, it was expanded to 18 in 1984 and is recognized today as one of the area's finest public courses. The Brockport Country Club is the area's most popular outings course, with some of the biggest names in the area holding events here, including former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly. Three banquet halls that seat up to 200 are available for outings and private parties. Our 50 foot Oak Bar is the largest in the area and a favorite for great times on weekend nights, with a 60" big screen tv for sports viewing. Delicious food is available at two course restaurants -- Nolly's Bar & Grill in the clubhouse for lunch, dinner and drinks, and J&J's Pizzeria & World Express, located next door, with pizza, wings and more. There's winter practice at Brockport, unlike anyplace else, with 16' high heated stalls that give golfers the opportunity for Florida like conditions in upstate New York.
