Mill Ridge Golf Club
1501 Mill Ridge Drive Livingston, TX 77351 |
| Course Description | |
Mill Ridge's non-returning 18-hole layout winds around the historic Ogletree Sawmill which was founded in 1902. The course also incorporates a pulpwood yard, Choates Creek and the abandoned right-of-way of the Waco, Beaumont, Trinity & Sabine (W,B,T & S) Railroad into its design. The pulpwood yard is used to consolidate loads of southern yellow pine timber for shipment to area paper mills as the raw material for paper products, such as the Houston Chronicle. Choates Creek was the water source for the sawmill's boilers back in the days of steam power. The W,B,T & S was used to transport lumber to market before 18-wheelers and interstate highways. Some of the original sawmill buildings are still in use while plans are being made to use the original mill site for homesites and golf course expansion. |
